Recommendations for parents on teeth and gums care for children
1. Parents should start hygienic care of the baby’s oral cavity from the moment the first milk teeth are eroded (at the age of 5-6 months). The procedure should be performed once a day (in the evening before bed). To remove plaque from the tooth surface, it is recommended to use special silicone brushes (which are worn on the finger). On such a brush, as a rule, there is a restraint (as in a pustushka). It is necessary to clear it by circular movements from the gums to the cutting edge. It is necessary to clean without toothpaste.
2. At the time of the eruption of a child of 8 to 10 teeth (usually up to 1 year), parents should remove the teeth from the children 2 times a day (in the morning and evening) with a soft, soft brush (the length of the brush’s workpiece should not be greater than 15 mm) toothpaste is not used.
3. From 2-2,5 years – clean with a soft toothbrush with a gel-like toothpaste 2 times a day. The amount of paste per cleaning should not be the size of the pea. You can start accustoming the baby to first rinse your mouth, then use a brush and paste. First, show the child how to use a brush only with soaked water, without toothpaste. Teach you to properly hold the toothbrush, show how to move from top to bottom, from bottom to top. Tell me that you need to clean both the front and back of the teeth. First, carry out this procedure yourself, after which you can trust the brush of the child. Follow and educate the child so that she does not swallow the foam from the paste, but spit out.
4. After the appearance of the teeth, try not to fall asleep with the bottle in the mouth, unless the bottle is filled with water, rather than a sweet beverage. The liquid containing sugar creates a favorable environment for the development of pathogenic microorganisms that cause, the so-called bottle caries. In addition, due to prolonged sucking of dummies and bottles there is a distortion of the tooth row, forming – an incorrect bite, which also adversely affects the permanent teeth.
5. Before brushing your baby, wash it thoroughly (even if the brush has just been bought and only you got it from the package). Immerse the brush with baby soap for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly with soap. Also, it is necessary to handle it after each tooth cleaning. It is not necessary to store a toothbrush in a case, since it then begins to rapidly multiply pathological microorganisms. Pay particular attention and remember that the period of validity in a toothbrush is short – just a few months, then do not regret it and throw it away. We now sell brushes that have a special indicator that changes color when it comes time to throw the brush.
6. At this time, as the baby develops a toothbrush, let the baby gnaw after eating and before bedtime pieces of apples, carrots or other fruits and vegetables with solid fiber. It contributes to the mechanical cleaning of the teeth from the residual food.
7. Pay attention to the baby’s consumption of sweet, as sweets contribute to the destruction of the enamel, they are better to restrict. And for children under three, it is generally not advisable to give sweets, chocolates, except for usually sweet fruits, vegetables and dried fruits.
8. Brush and paste are selected by the child according to the age indicated on the package.
9. At the age of 6 years, with the appearance of the first permanent sixth teeth in a child, we recommend that they be sealed with a dentist, as the teeth that are cut out have a slightly mineralized enamel, and therefore they are most prone to the occurrence of caries in them. This procedure is very fast and absolutely painless, and it is an excellent prevention of caries.
10. Do not forget that you need to visit a pediatric dentist regularly every 3-4 months. Encourage your child to go to a dentist, the first time just to see a doctor, for the gradual adaptation of the child.
